Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) has announced that it is making its chipsets available for use with the Symbian OS - a standard operating system for advanced mobile phones.

Support for Bluetooth was designed into Symbian's core platform from the outset. This move is expected to provide tighter integration between CSR's Bluetooth host software and the Symbian OS, reducing Symbian OS licensees' time to integrate CSR's Bluetooth solution into their designs. CSR's BlueCore silicon is already in use in over 60 percent of v1.1 qualified Bluetooth products on the market.

Phil O'Donovan, executive director and co-founder, CSR said, "This partnership provides Symbian OS licensees the option of a quick and easy route to Bluetooth enable their mobile phones."
