Infineon demonstrates fiber-optic solutions

Infineon Technologies AG has demonstrated several fiber-optic products and offerings, which include a 1,310nm VCSEL-based, 4Gb fiber channel (4GFC) iSFP transceiver module, 10GbE/Gb fiber channel hot-pluggable XPAK transceivers, and MOST transceivers for automotive solutions.

The 4GFC iSFP transceiver module can use either one of the company's low cost VCSEL (vertical cavity surface emitting laser) diodes, 850nm or 1,310nm, and can be used in both GbE and fiber channel applications. The family of hot-pluggable XPAK transceivers consists of a range of 10Gbps optical transceiver modules compliant with 10GbE as well as 10Gb fiber channel standards, supporting links at a rate of 10.3Gbps for 10GE and 10.5Gbps for 10GFC. The XPAK 850nm VCSEL-based transceiver supports short reaches up to 300m over multimode fiber and the 1,310nm DFB laser-based module supports long reaches up to 10km over single fiber. The XPAK modules are offered with SC and LC optical receptacles to prove flexibility for customers.

The transceivers for the MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) multimedia fiber-optic network provide a low-overhead and low-cost interface for such devices as microphones and speakers. MOST is established as the de-facto high-speed networking standard used in over 20 different car models worldwide.
