Kyocera Wireless Corp., a manufacturer of CDMA wireless phones, has obtained an ISO 14001 re-certification.

Since the company's last ISO 14001 re-certification audit three years ago, Kyocera Wireless has enhanced its Energy Management Control System (EMCS). Further, the company says that they have cut the amount of energy required to produce each of its wireless phones by 20 percent over the past two years. Implementing reclaimed water for irrigation has reportedly reduced the company's water costs by 40 percent and cut the use of potable water in half.

"Our Quality Standards team has worked diligently to ensure that we retained our ISO 14001 certification, and this is a validation of Kyocera's commitment to protecting the environment and conservation of natural resources," said Tsuyoshi Mano, president of Kyocera Wireless. "Our ultimate goal is for our 'green' systems to have a positive impact on the local community."
