Texas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions Inc. (TAOS) has announced plans to offer all of the company's optoelectronic sensor solution product families in surface-mount packages. The TSL250/251RD and TSL260/261RD converters will be the company's first light-to-voltage devices to be made available in surface-mount packages.

Available now in 8-pin SOIC packages that stand 1.8mm high, the light-to-voltage converters each combine a photodiode and a transimpedance amplifier in a single monolithic IC. Their output voltage is directly proportional to the light intensity impinging on the photodiode. All four devices have improved amplifier offset-voltage stability and low-power consumption.

The TSL250RD has an irradiance responsivity of 69mV/?W/cm? and an output rise time of 260?s. The less sensitive but faster TSL251RD has an irradiance responsivity of 17mV/?W/cm? and an output rise time of 70?s. The TSL250RD and the TSL251RD light-to-voltage converters are packaged in clear plastic, which allows a response in the spectral range from 350nm to 1,000nm.

The TSL260RD and TSL261RD are the infrared versions of the TSL250RD and the TSL251RD, respectively. They are packaged in a visible light-blocking plastic, which cuts off the response below 700nm.

Suggested resale price for the products is $1.54 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
