Catalyst expands product line with digital pots

Catalyst Semiconductor Inc. has expanded its digital potentiometer integrated circuit market coverage with the release of its Digitally Programmable Potentiometer (DPP) chip line that do not have embedded EEPROM memory.

The 32-tap CAT5115 draws <5mW when in standby mode, and will operate with a 2.5V to 5.5V power supply voltage. Wiper position is controlled by a 3-wire up/down control interface, and at power up, the wiper is set to mid-scale or tap 15. Resistance value options of 10 kiloohms, 50 kiloohms, and 100 kiloohms are available.

The CAT5115 is offered in an 8-lead SOIC, TSSOP, DIP, and MSOP packages, the product is rated for operation between the industrial temperature range.

Prices start at 38 cents in 10,000-piece quantities.
