Powerchip taps Asyst for AMHS expansion

Taiwan-based memory chip manufacturer Powerchip Semiconductor Corp. has given a multi-million dollar follow-on-order to Asyst Technologies Inc.

According to the terms of the agreement, Asyst will expand the Automated Material Handling System (AMHS) for Phase 2 of Powerchip's Fab 12A in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The Phase 2 installation is expected to begin sometime in the first calendar quarter of 2004.
