The AP1623 switching regulator from Anachip Corp. provides a fixed output voltage of 1.8V and supports adjustable outputs up to 6V by adding an external voltage divider resistor network. Switching at 180kHz and driving 3A, the product is suitable for use in mobile applications, supports a wide range of input voltages from 2.5V to 14V, and incorporates an internal p-channel Power MOS, which is able to deliver 3A load current without an external MOSFET. Along with its switching frequency of 180kHz, the device reduces the cost and size of components for the PCB by lowering the size of external inductor and capacitor.

The AP1623 offers additional features such as current limit, thermal-shutdown protection and on/off shutdown functions. An external signal controls the on/off pin for entering the standby mode. Consuming 35?A at standby mode and 0.5?A during power off, the product operates between the -20C to 85C temperature range and is offered in a 8-pin SOIC package. The AP1623 is priced at 80 cents in quantities of 10,000.
