Texas Instruments Inc. has released its TMS320F2801, TMS320F2806, and TMS320F2808 digital signal controllers that allow embedded system designers to incorporate improved capabilities and functionality. Featuring torque at 0rpm and lower torque ripple, the devices provide 100MIPS for <$5 in volume production.

The products combine MCU peripheral integration and C-efficiency of the company's digital signal processing technology along with 12 PWM channels, 4 Capture units, 2 QEP units, timer units, and a 12-bit, 16-channel, multiplexed input ADC with a throughput of 160ns/6.25MSPS.

With peripherals of up to 4 SPIs, up to 2 SCIs (UART), I?C, and up to 2 CAN ports, the devices features on-chip memory such as 16Kwords to 64Kwords programmable Flash, 6Kwords to 18Kwords ROM, and 1Kword One time programmable (OTP).

The company has also announced the availability of the TMS320C2812, C2811, and C2810 and the TMS320F2811 controllers. The devices are based on the TMS320F28x core and feature ROM memory for cost sensitive applications that do not require field upgradeability.

The TMS320F2811 is suitable for applications that require 150MIPS of control optimized performance, MCU control 128Kwords of Flash memory in a smaller quad flatpack packaging.

Development tools such as ANSI C/C++ Compiler/Assembler/Linker, Code Composer Studio, IDE, DSP/BIOS, and JTAG Scan Controllers are included.
