SiS unveils low-power Flash controller

Under the dual channel mode, the SiS150 USB 2.0 Flash disk controller from Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. (SiS) can achieve read speed of up to 18MBps and write speed of up to 13MBps. Adopting the 0.18?m CMOS technology, the product consumes less power and operates at a lower temperature compared to its competitors.

The SiS150 handles up to 4GB of storage space, and supports USB 2.0/1.1. The internal architecture of the device consists of an 8-bit CPU with an 8032-compatible instruction-set, RAM, and ROM, and can operate under 30MHz.

Integrating the company's proprietary USB 2.0 PHY, the controller includes a voltage regulator that reduces BOM cost and energy requirements.

With internal 1-bit ECC circuits to ensure data integrity, the SiS150 features write-protection, drive partitioning, password protection, and boot function by emulations of ZIP/USB disks. Clients may also customize their product design by storing their own VID/PID or other codes inside the SiS150. The product is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux.
