CommScope to acquire Avaya unit

CommScope Inc., a manufacturer of broadband coaxial cable, fiber-optic and twisted pair cables for LAN, wireless and other communications applications, has signed a definitive agreement with Avaya Inc. to acquire its Connectivity Solutions (ACS) business for cash and securities valued at about $263 million.

ACS is a provider of enterprise structured cabling solutions for LAN applications. ACS also offers structured cabling and equipment for telephone central offices. The acquisition of ACS is expected to enhance CommScope's brand and market presence in the enterprise LAN business. Additionally, CommScope's fiber-optic cable technology, enhanced through its relationship with OFS, complements ACS' enterprise LAN product offering.
