Cirrus Logic amps suit geophysical apps

Targeting geophysical instruments and geophysical application markets, the CS3301 geophone amplifier and the CS3302 hydrophone amplifier from Cirrus Logic Inc. are highly integrated programmable-gain differential amplifiers designed to suit seismic and geophysical applications that require precise measurements.

Used with geophone sensors, the CS3301 delivers low-noise, low-drift performance down to 0.1Hz, as well as high-input impedance. Suitable use with hydrophone sensors, the product features the company's Multipath amplifier technology that provides manufacturers of seismic equipment amplifier solutions with low power consumption and low total-harmonic distortion (THD).

Reductions in board space and increased performance can be realized by combining the CS3301/02 differential amplifiers, the CS5371/72 Delta-Sigma modulators, the CS5376A digital filter and a planned, soon-to-be-announced seismic test digital-to-analog converter. This will allow designers to quickly design a synchronous, high-resolution multichannel measurement system.

Available in 24-pin SSOP packages, the CS3301 and CS3302 are priced at $8.88 in volumes of 10,000.
