Advanced Analogic Technologies Inc. (AnalogicTech) has released its AAT3223 low dropout (LDO) linear regulator that is designed to suit power-sensitive portable applications such as PDAs, cellphones and digital cameras. With an integrated PowerOK function which monitors the LDO output voltage and alerts the system when the output falls out of regulation, the device features a quiescent current of 1.1?A, output current of 250mA, and dropout voltage of 190mV.

A member of the NanoPower line, the product features over-temperature and current limit protection circuits, and offers a power conserving enable pin which when pulled low will put the LDO into a shutdown mode to extend battery life.

Jan Nilsson, VP of sales and marketing, said, "The AAT3223 allows designers to use an LDO with an extremely low ground current while eliminating the external microprocessor reset circuit normally required to support PowerOK."

Priced at 49 cents each in 1,000-unit quantities, the AAT3223 is offered in a 6-pin SOT23 or 8-pin SC70JW package, and is rated over a -40C to 85C temperature range.
