Sirenza Microdevices Inc., a designer and supplier of RF components for communications equipment manufacturers, has received U.S. patent number 6,639,473 entitled " Method and/or apparatus for controlling a common-base amplifier. "
This is Sirenza's sixth U.S. patent awarded in the area of broadband amplifier ICs and discloses an approach for improving the distortion of a common-base pre-amplifier for wireless and fiber optic applications.
"The common-base amplifier is a well known topology and has wide use in high linearity and broadband circuit applications. This invention provides a way to improve the linearity and gain response of a common-base pre-amplifier used to generate low distortion, complementary signals from a large optically induced input signal," states Kevin Kobayashi, Director of Advanced Design. "This invention could provide improved signal integrity for balanced-detection, advanced optical receiver architectures currently under investigation for future fiber network systems." |
