Elma Electronic Inc. has announced an 8-slot CompactPCI portable tower, with PICMG 2.16 backplane options. Offering a wide range of options for various applications, the 8-slot Type 32 cPCI chassis measures 43.18-by-26.67cm. It features 2 x 5.25-inch HH devices and a 350W plug-in power supply with an option for dual redundancy.

Designed for portable use, the chassis is geared towards protection from the wear-and-tear the units often face. The vinyl clad aluminum covers are scratch-resistant, and an ergonomic handle allows for easy and comfortable portability. Rubber-soled feet prevent the chassis from marring or scratching desktops.

For PICMG 2.16 configurations, backplanes are available in 8-slot sizes with either one or two fabric slots, and with or without H.110 Computer Telephony implementation. In the standard 8-slot cPCI backplane configuration, power bugs for 3.3-, 5-, and 12V I/Os are located along the side of the backplane.
