Cadence Design Systems Inc. has released the SPECCTRAQuest for Electrical Engineers (EE) software that enables electrical engineers to manage the rapidly increasing high-speed content on complex PCB systems. Part of the constraint-driven PCB design flow, the product incorporates the company's SPECCTRAQuest signal-integrity (SI) technology that help electrical engineers shorten design cycle times and improve design quality and performance.

The design methodology supported by the SPECCTRAQuest EE improves design-team productivity and minimizes the impact on overloaded SI engineering resources, while controlling added costs, by enabling electrical engineers to develop and manage constraints on their designs without having to depend on SI engineers to analyze all of the constrained nets.

The product includes the hierarchical Constraint Manager and SigXplorer graphical topology as its simulation cockpit, and is integrated with the high-speed design flow that includes SPECCTRAQuest SI Expert, Concept HDL, Allegro, SPECCTRA and Constraint Manager. Electrical and SI engineers using SigXplorer can share constraint templates, including complex topologies for active and dynamic collaboration, in real time. SPECCTRAQuest EE also offers a methodology guide for electrical engineers new to SI analysis to enable them to quickly and easily get started with constraint development.

A one-year license for the SPECCTRAQuest EE in North America will be available for $17,500.
