Actel adopts HelloSoft WLAN IP

HelloSoft Inc., a provider of communication IP, has licensed its HelloWLAN IEEE 802.11b IP to Actel Corp.'s Protocol Design Services Group, a supplier of hardware and software design services.

The HelloWLAN solution consists of the complete PHY and MAC for the IEEE 802.11-series WLAN standards including security, and is available as 'designer-tailored' licensable IP for semiconductor vendors and OEMs. The solution is fully customizable, allowing developers to specify the hardware/software partitioning for their specific target platform to optimally leverage existing resources and to minimize additional hardware costs.

The agreement with Actel includes licensing of real-time Software & RTL implementations of the HelloWLAN IEEE 802.11 b PHY and MAC.
