Semitool Inc. announced that Motorola Inc.'s Semiconductor Products Sector issued a follow-on purchase order for another Raider SP (surface preparation) system, Semitool's most advanced single wafer equipment system for cleaning applications. The new system will join an earlier Semitool Raider at Motorola's Dan Noble Center in Austin, Texas.

Motorola said it anticipates using Semitool's Raider SP for cleaning applications for its 130nm semiconductor production, as well as for process development for its 90nm and beyond technologies.

"The Raider SP is a high-volume manufacturing platform used by semiconductor makers for cleaning, etching and stripping applications on 150mm, 200mm existing wafer production, as well as on 300mm silicon wafers. The fully automatic system can be configured with as many as ten processing chambers, putting the Raider SP at the forefront of productivity in single wafer processing," said Ray Young, manager of the single wafer surface preparation division at Semitool.
