SVA-NEC to deploy equipment in 5G TFT-LCD line Q2 '02

Shanghai SVA NEC Liquid Crystal Display has signed contracts with equipment vendors and is set to begin installing equipment at its 5G TFT-LCD line in China in May of next year.

The company will install equipment to process 25,000-30,000 substrates per month in a first phase and add an equivalent amount of equipment in a second phase, the paper said. Volume production of 1,100-by-1,300mm substrates is still scheduled to start October 2004. The line was originally planned to have a monthly capacity of processing 45,000 substrates.

Shanghai SVA NEC Liquid Crystal Display is a joint venture between China-based SVA Electronic and Japan-based NEC.
