Allegro ICs suit satellite receiver apps

Allegro MicroSystems Inc. has released four low-noise block voltage regulators (LNBRs) for satellite STB systems. Designed to future-proof set-top designs, the devices feature legacy system compatibility and offer the flexibility of two-way DiSEqC communications.

Intended for analog and digital satellite receivers, the LNBR family consists of monolithic linear and switching voltage regulators, designed to provide both power and interface signals to the LNB downconverter via the coaxial cable.

The ICs offer a wide operating voltage range, high efficiency, reduced component count, and comprehensive protection, including internal over-temperature, externally adjustable short circuit, and reverse current protection. With I2C bidirectional communication, it reads status and writes control of 8287 and 8285 boost devices.

Offered in either a standard 24-lead or 16-lead SOIC package, the LNBR family is manufactured using the company's ABCD3 (Allegro Bipolar CMOS DMOS 3rd generation) process.
