National Instruments has announced the PXI-8180 series of Pentium 4 and Celeron-based embedded PXI/CompactPCI controllers that ease system integration while meeting the reliability requirements of real-time and automated test applications.

The PXI-8180 series features a hard drive, Ethernet, USB, GPIB and Serial into a single module. It operates with all PXI and CompactPCI peripheral modules and is available with Windows XP/2000 or the company's LabVIEW Real-Time installed.

The PXI-8186 3U PXI/CompactPCI embedded controller features a 2.2GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor. The series also includes the 1.2GHz PXI-8185 Celeron-based and 850MHz PXI-8184 embedded controllers. The two controllers give engineers a compact, high-performance PC platform for modular instrumentation and are suitable for cost-sensitive applications.
