Sipex Corp. has released its latest Photo Detector Integrated Circuit (PDIC), the SP8052.

Designed for 8x and 12x writeable DVD drives, the device features slew rates of 500V per microsecond, 12ns saturation recovery times, 0.5ns group delay and 150MHz bandwidth. Along with the four high-speed data detection channels, four tracking channels and two summing channels traditionally utilized for CD and DVD-write modes, two additional write channels have been implemented for enhanced high-speed DVD write functionality.

Offered in a 16-pin clear OPLGA packaging that measures 5-by-4mm, the PDIC has three selectable gain settings, 60dB PSRR, 5mV output offset and differential outputs with 2.7V output swing.

The SP8052 is priced at $1.65 in 100,000-piece quantities. An evaluation board is also available to assist in the evaluation of the device.
