Designed for use in notebook computers, the fully managed EP-4103DL-PXE 10/100 Fast Ethernet Cardbus network adaptor from Argon Technology Corp. is claimed to be the first Cardbus adaptor that supports Microsoft RIS, without the need for other software or driver files.

With the manageable PXE- (Preboot Execution Environment) enabled adaptor installed on their notebooks, IT departments can use PXE based software to remotely manage them. PXE can also be used to deploy OS upgrades using Microsoft Remote Installation Services (RIS), Argon Client Management Services software or any other third-party PXE-based management application.

The product uses the company's PXE on Disk technology to enable the manageability of the adaptor. PXE on Disk allows the notebook system to boot from the network and connect to a PXE supported server before the OS is loaded from the local hard disk. It also offers support for RPL, NetWare, DHCP and BOOTP legacy network booting protocols.

The EP-4103DL-PXE Ethernet adaptor card is priced at $49.98.
