Trinamic SoC with I?C-compliant interface

Designed for office and industrial automation applications, the stepper motor control SoC from Trinamic Microchips GmbH combines positioning intelligence and drive electronics with a serial I?C-compliant interface.

The TMC222's on-chip RAM and OTP memory allows the storing of basic motion parameters such as maximum velocity and acceleration. Simple position commands are therefore sufficient for moving the motor to its desired position, eliminating the need for external components.

A single I?C Master can address up to 32 TMC222 controlled axes. The serial I?C-compliant interface allows for easy board level design and communication. The advantages of the decentralized architecture include easy serviceability and a flexible, modular approach to the system design. The bi-directional interface supports diagnostic read out of status and failure conditions such as overtemperature, open load, overcurrent and undervoltage.

A dual DMOS bridge keeps power consumption and heat dissipation low. The device can drive bipolar stepper motors with a coil current of up to 800mA. Offered in a 20-pin SOIC package, it has an operating temperature between -40C and 85C.
