Royal Philips Electronics has introduced a local interconnect network (LIN) I/O slave expander that allows for cost-effective, fail-safe in-vehicle LIN networks.

The UJA1023 device supports up to eight identical LIN I/O slave nodes on a single LIN-bus and up to thirty with additional wiring effort. It features an integrated LIN transceiver, an on-chip oscillator, eight configurable I/Os and automatic bit rate synchronization to any bit rate between 1Kbps and 20Kbps. The outputs of the device can be configured as high and/or low side driver, cyclic or PWM driver, while the inputs feature an eight channel multiplexed 8-bit ADC.
