Osram Opto supplies Ford with LED products

Osram Opto Semiconductors GmbH has announced that its single chip white technology TopLED and Golden Dragon LED packages will be integrated into Ford Motor Co.'s GT, Cobra, and Mustang automobiles.

The company claims its products are fully automotive - qualified with the Pb-free (lead-free) metallization needed for environmentally friendly products in model year 2006 and beyond vehicles.

"We are pleased to provide Ford Motor with the ability to integrate a dynamic range of LED lighting solutions for its vehicles," says Tom Shottes, VP, North American LED Products, Osram Opto Semiconductors Inc. "Because LED lighting solutions reduce vehicle power consumption, extend the life and reliability of the product, and are environmentally friendly, they represent a trend for a growing range of future applications," he adds.
