C&D Technologies (NCL) Ltd has released its NCX10S family of miniature, surface mount dc-dc converters that is based around a ceramic PCB.

The products achieve full rating in a small package without heatsinking, and supplies over-currents of up to 170 percent nominal output for short periods. It is available with either 24V or 48V inputs, and has an isolated 10W single output. Operation at a fixed frequency of 400kHz makes the implementation of filtering easier, and a design that is free from electrolytic capacitors helps increase reliability.

Available output voltages range from 3.3V to 5.0V, with all units having 500V input-to-output isolation. Internal over-temperature and load fault protection, coupled with a continuous rating to 10W at 85C makes the NCX10S series suitable for use in high availability applications.

The dc-dc converters have an overall package size of 44.55-by-28.4-by-8.1mm, with an operating temperature range from -40C to 85C. The devices are priced at $15 in OEM quantities.
