Fairchild Semiconductor has announced that Daikin Ind. Ltd has selected its 600Vac, 10A Mini-Smart Power Module (SPM) to power Daikin's 3-phase air conditioner inverter systems.

Housed in a Mini Dual In-line Package (Mini-DIP), the Mini-SPM is a fully optimized, intelligent IGBT module. It has a measurement of 44-by-26.8mm, and a ceramic-based and transfer molded package, which allows the device to provide board space savings as well as thermal advantages. The Mini-SMP also offers technological improvements such as high latch immunity and built-in dV/dt-controlled High-Voltage Integrated Circuits (HVICs).

Taehoon Kim, VP of Fairchild's High Power Product Group, said, "This compact product provides increased system reliability and significant cost reductions by simplifying application designs and reducing board space."
