Ixia acquires G3 for voice-over-IP tech

Ixia Communications Inc. announced at the Optical Fiber Communication conference its acquisition of G3 Nova Technology Inc., a specialist in testing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) devices and networks.

G3, located close to Ixia's Calabasas headquarters with offices in Westlake Village, California, has a team of design and marketing personnel in Westlake Village, as well as more than 40 engineers in Bucharest, Romania.

Ixia acquired all assets for $9 million in cash and common stock, and may make future earnout payments. Ixia immediately repackaged the G3 product line as IxVoice, which will analyze Quality of Voice and Quality of Fax over correlated circuit-switched and IP calls. The IxVoice test library will be capable of emulating SIP, H.323, Megaco, signaling, and Cisco skinny SCCP protocols.
