USI ADSL gateway eyes home networking

ODM company Universal Scientific Ind. Co. Ltd (USI) has entered the broadband market with the release of its 802.11g wireless ADSL gateway that features a maximum transmission speed of 54Mbps.
SVP C.Y. Wei, said, "This new product is ADSL2+compliant and offers higher performance in transmission efficiency. It is designed for high-end home networking for the wireless broadband market."
Wei also shared that a market research report by In-Stat/MDR shows that the global demand for ADSL home networking and wireless gateways will reach $2.2 billion this year with a total shipping of 23 million units.
The report also states that the wireless gateways will account for 22.5 percent of the market value and the growth is expected to remain strong all the way to 2006.
Mass production and shipment of the ADSL gateway is expected to start by the second quarter of this year. |
