Intersil advances position with Xicor acquisition

Intersil Corp. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Xicor Inc. With this acquisition, Intersil will be able to expand its portfolio of standard analog products.

Xicor is a provider of digital potentiometers and system management products. It also has an expanding portfolio of real-time clocks, voltage references, power sequencing and display products that provide a natural extension to Intersil's position in the computing power management and FPD markets.

This acquisition will be the second analog acquisition for Intersil that acquired Elantec Semiconductor Inc. in May 2002.
