Formosa to outsource production process from Tyntek

Formosa Epitaxy Inc. has signed a subcontracting agreement with Tyntek Corp. According to the agreement, Formosa will subcontract three production processes such as, grinding, scribing, and sorting from Tyntek Corp.

Charles Wei, spokesperson from Formosa Epitaxy, explained, "The move will help us boost our output for both epitaxy wafers and LED chips. The company has expanded its monthly capacity to 10,000 2-inch epitaxy wafers during the first quarter of this year. He Wei, "We will continue to expand our monthly capacity to 14,000 2-inch epitaxy wafers at the end of 2004.

Formosa Epitaxy also plans to install three MOCVD machines to its LED-chip production lines during this first half. "The company's monthly capacity for LED chips is targeted to increase to 120 million LED chips from 45 million units at the end of 2004," added Wei.
