South Korea-based MtekVision Co. has presented its latest mobile phone video compression ICs, the MV317 and MV319, in the recent IIC-China Exhibition.

The latest video compression ICs feature two LCD interfaces, LCD display that supports 8-by-8 and 176-by-220, automatic color compensation, integrating images, picture in picture display, and character display function. When compared to previous models, this particular chip integrates image compression and image de-compression functions into a single chip. The JPEG encoder supports YUV422 to VGA/SXGA, while the JPEG decoder supports YUV444/422/420/411 to VGA/SXGA. Both ICs support special graphics effects, such as mosaic, hoariness, negative color, and canvas. They also offer digital Zoom to 8x, continuous video recording up to 30fps and real-time playing.

Particularly, the MV317 features 0.3 million pixels, internal CMOS/ CCD interface, supporting VGA/CIF, 180deg; rotation for VGA image. On the hand, the MV319 features 1.3 million pixels, supporting SXGA/VGA/CIF, 90/180/270 degree rotation for VGA image.

"As one of the most important suppliers of video compression ICs in South Korea, MtekVision's customers include Samsung Electronics, Konkani, Capinfo and Amoy in China, said Zhou Shiang, sales manager at the Shenzhen office of Smart work Technology Ltd, MtekVision's exclusive distributor in China.
