The SP6132HV from Sipex Corp. is a high voltage, synchronous step-down PWM controller that is engineered for stepping down dc input voltages ranging from 3.3V up to 28V in automotive, mobile phone basestations, trains, marine equipment, and 24V industrial systems.

Capable of handling input voltages up to 28V, the controller utilizes a highly efficient PWM architecture that drives dual NFET switches with efficiencies as high as 94 percent. Additional voltage handling capability has been added to the top side driver for enhancing the n-channel MOSFET gate up to 33V.

The SP6132HV features a programmable output voltage range down to 0.8V and maintains 1.5 percent accuracy over a wide range of input line, output load, and temperature conditions. With a 300kHz operation, the product features under voltage lockout, programmable soft start, short circuit protection and fast transient response. Internal 2A gate drivers provide load current capability as high as 30A.

The SP6132HV is available over the industrial -40C to 85C temperature range in a 10 pin MSOP package. Pricing for the IC begins at $2.40 in 1,000 piece quantities. Samples and evaluation boards are also available to assist in the evaluation of the devices.
