Enhancements to the latest version of Zuken Ltd's PC-board virtual prototyping tool, Hot-Stage 4.2, allow verification of complete electronic systems.

The product now supports electrical board descriptions (EBDs) that form part of the Ibis standard, as well as the definition of hierarchical stimuli and advanced skew handling. Autorouting has also been improved, Zuken said.

Hot-Stage is a prototyping tool that provides analysis and what-if capabilities, and lets designers trade off parameters as crosstalk, timing and electromagnetic interference against mechanical or thermal constraints.

Version 4.2's EBD support gives designers an ability to verify the signal integrity of entire electronic systems. In the past, this was only possible after a prototype was produced, Zuken said.

Hot-Stage v4.2 will be available at the end of June on Windows and Unix platforms starting at $35,000.
