Tera Systems, a provider of design planning software for RTL handoff, has won $14 million in new funding in a round led by VantagePoint Venture Partners. The funds will be used to expand Tera's field support and marketing efforts.
Tera Systems provides TeraForm, a silicon virtual prototyping tool that has been integrated into ASIC design flows from IBM and LSI Logic. In February this year, Tera and IBM announced what they claimed to be the first production-ready RTL handoff flow.
Previous investors including Sequoia Capital, Menlo Ventures, and Leapfrog Ventures participated in the new funding round. Each of these firms has one member on Tera's board of directors. With the new funding, Melissa Crane Guzy, general partner at VantagePoint Venture Partners, has joined Tera's board of directors.
