Alps Electric Co. Ltd shrinks its line of lever and push action switches by 50 percent while maintaining their operational feel and life span. The SLLB5 series switches are used for highlighting and selecting menu items on cellphones, PDAs, and digital cameras.

The SLLB5 switches, which measure 8.8(L)-by-9.5(W)-by-2.2(H)mm, offer the same performance characteristics including operational feeling, life span of 100,000 cycles and electrical specifications as previous generation lever and push action switches.

To meet consumer demand for more sophisticated, compact and slimmer mobile devices, Alps has designed the new compact SLLB5 switches with a single knob that combines a bidirectional slide action and push action, and leverages its accumulated mold-processing technology to reduce the overall size of the switches. All SLLB5 devices are compatible with lead free and reflow soldering processes.

Sample shipments are available in April 2004. Sample price for the SLLB5 series is $1.29 each.
