Vishay displays deliver high luminous intensity

A new family of low-current, single-digit, seven-segment displays from Vishay Intertechnology Inc. deliver a luminous intensity up to 3,600?cd with 1mA of current. In addition, the displays provide excellent readability in direct sunlight, said the company.

The six new Vishay Semiconductors high-intensity TDSR displays offer designers a choice of common anode (TDSRxx50) or common cathode (TDSRxx60) versions with minimum and maximum luminous intensity ratings from 180?cd to 3,600?cd, respectively, enabling operation in direct sunlight or in "black front" designs using tinted filter glass.

A maximum forward current of 10mA is allowed for an ambient temperature range of -40C to 85C without current derating. The displays utilize AllnGaP technology in the color red.

Featuring a wide viewing angle, the displays may be used in panel meters, test and measurement equipment, point-of-sale terminals, control units, and battery-operated systems that require very low power consumption.

Package dimensions are 7.4-by-9.9-by-9.1mm deep (TDSR0750 and TDSR0760), 9.7-by-12.8-by-10.7mm deep (TDSR1050 and TDSR1060), and 12.25-by-17.5-by-10.6mm deep (TDSR1350 and TDSR1360) with a gray package surface.

Pricing for the TDSR displays is $60 per 100 pieces in quantities of 10,000 for U.S. delivery. Samples and production quantities are available now with lead times of four weeks.
