Metalink Ltd has announced that Corecess Inc. has developed a broadband access product line with scalable VDSL capabilities, utilizing Metalink's Total-VDSL solution.

According to Metalink, Total-VDSL represents a remarkable technology innovation in DSL. Using Total-VDSL technology, system vendors can build a single DSLAM or CPE platform that fits optimally any deployment scenario. A single HW can be installed in central office, cabinet and basement deployment and provide optimal performance.

Total-VDSL provides scalability ranging from over 50Mbps at short distances (500m) and up to 5km xDSL service capability. This scalability is performed automatically using rate adaptive algorithms that provide the highest possible bit-rate compared to any other legacy xDSL technology including ADSL/ADSL2+.

"In the past only part of the Korean population, those living in Multi-Dwelling-Units (MDU) in the dense metropolitan areas, could enjoy faster DSL speeds provided by VDSL. Using our Total-VDSL-based solution, true broadband experience will be available to the entire country," said Mr. Jeremy Ha, president and CEO of Corecess.

The VDSL, VDSLPlus, and Total-VDSL products are designed to meet the specifications of 50Mbps and 100Mbps broadband systems as defined by Korean and Japanese service providers.
