Maxim Integrated Products has developed the MAX3747 and MAX3747A 3.3V, low-power, multirate limiting amplifiers with a programmable loss-of-signal (LOS) indicator.

Operating from a single 3.3V supply, the amplifiers have better than 4mV input sensitivity and 120?V root-mean-square input-referred noise, while consuming 60mW. Each device has a programmable signal-detect function that can be set to different assert and deassert levels, while maintaining a 2dB hysterisis. The MAX3747 features low 13ps deterministic jitter and <3.5ps root-mean-square random jitter.

Both products accept input voltages from 4mV to 1200mV, and provide 500mV peak-to-peak (MAX3747) or 800mV peak-to-peak (MAX3747A) output swing. They are packaged in a 3mm 10-pin microMAX, and operate over the extended temperature range (-40C to 85C). Prices start at $4.50 (1,000-up, FOB USA). The company has also made available an evaluation kit to help speed designs.
