Tak Ferrite Co. Ltd is investing NT$200 million ($6.04 million at NT$33.11:$1) in the construction of its new plant in Taiwan and the second phase of its factory in mainland China.

The new 8,800 square-meter plant in Taiwan begins mass production of Mn-Zn ferrite cores this month. According to C.N. Liu, managing director, the demand for Mn-Zn ferrite cores has been increasing since last year. Two new nitrogen rotary kilns and one new batch furnace will be installed in the plant. Its annual capacity is 700 tons.

Meanwhile, the second phase of the company's mainland factory is set to be completed by year-end. Six new nitrogen rotary kilns and two new batch furnaces will be installed there. The new facility will have an annual capacity of 4,200 tons of Mn-Zn ferrite cores.

Liu adds that the company has no plans to boost its capacity for Ni-Zn ferrite cores. "Our annual capacity for Ni-Zn ferrite cores is large enough at 2,280 tons. Besides, demand for this product has not yet picked up," he explains.
