Comlent raises new capital for RF IC mass production

Comlent Semiconductor Co. Ltd has raised new capital from Intel Capital and 3i Group plc amounting to $9 million. The company will use the capital to mass produce RF ICs designed for use in wireless communication terminals. Mass production will commence this year.

According to Chen Kai, Comlent co-founder, the new investment will help the company to maximize the opportunities presented by the explosive growth of wireless communication worldwide.

Established in 2002, Comlent is an RF IC design house for wireless communication terminals in mainland China. Its main products include RF IC transceivers and power amplifiers used in PHS mobile phones, 2.4GHz digital wireless telephones and other short distance wireless communication products.
