Agilent Technologies Inc. disclosed that it has developed the industry's first test set that measures both WLAN 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth modules from a single platform.

"WLAN and Bluetooth module manufacturers need test equipment that will help them quickly ramp production lines to volume," said George Taylor, VP and GM of Agilent's South Queensferry Division. &quot'Agilent's one-box test set helps contract and original device manufacturers increase throughput by providing fast, accurate and repeatable measurements at a cost significantly less than purchasing and integrating multiple test set components."

The N4010A wireless connectivity test set with WLAN option 102/103 combines a fully calibrated vector signal generator and wide bandwidth signal analyzer. According to Agilent, this maximizes manufacturers' flexibility and significantly lowers the cost of test by eliminating the need to purchase separate WLAN and Bluetooth measurement systems.

Engineers using test set options 102/103 are able to verify multiple 802.11a/b/g chipsets operating in 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands, respectively. The company stressed that the new device provides superior RF performance to golden-radio based systems, and enables industry-standard modulation quality measurements such as error vector magnitude (EVM), which are critical for testing 802.11a/b/g devices. Using the test set Bluetooth option 101, engineers can make transmitter and receiver measurements as defined in the Bluetooth RF specification.

The N4010A and option 101 (Bluetooth) are already available for $12,000 and $4,500, respectively. The 102 and 103 options are expected to be available in August 2004 for $10,000 and $13,000, respectively. Additional information can be found at the company website.
