LG adopts Genesis display controller

LG Electronics Inc. has integrated Genesis Microchip Inc.'s gm1501 display controller and FLI2300 video format converter into its new 42-inch plasma TV receiver. The model RU42PX10 features the DCDi by Faroudja brand on its faceplate to denote the inclusion of Faroudja video processing technology.

The gm1501 display controller is a fully integrated single chip solution for flat panel TV receivers, including LCD and plasma TV receivers. It features RealColor technology to provide digital brightness and contrast controls. The controller also incorporates an integrated, full-screen bit-mapped on-screen-display (OSD) as well as development tools for an ICON-based TV OSD.

LG is currently building its largest plasma production plant in Gumi, South Korea and is committed to offering consumers advanced plasma display TV receiver in the market.
