Advanced Analogic Technologies Inc. said that Samsung Ventures America has invested $2 million in the developer of power management devices.

This investment is an extension of Series E financing that was originally announced in January. At that time, the Sunnyvale, California, company said it had raised $15 million in funding.

The private equity financing will be used for working capital to expand Advanced Analogic's product efforts and strengthen its worldwide sales and support staff.

"Based on AnalogicTech's strong customer acceptance, along with its circuit design and process technology expertise, we believe the company is well positioned to help designers satisfy consumer demand for more functionality while maintaining or extending battery life in such portable products as mobile phones, MP3 players and digital cameras," said Jay Eum, managing director of Samsung Ventures America.

Samsung Ventures America is the venture capital arm of South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.
