Shanghai analog startup attracts $10-million investment

Fabless analog and mixed-signal chip vendor Apexone Microelectronics Inc. has raised $10 million in a Series A round of venture funding led by DCM-Doll Capital Management and Walden International, the company said Monday (June 21, 2004).

The relationship between Apexone Microelectronics Inc. and Apexone Microelectronics (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. listed on its Web site was not explained.

Apexone said it intends to use the money to capitalize on the need for chips for consumer, multimedia and telecommunications in China. The company also said David Chao, co-founder and managing general partner of DCM, and Lip-Bu Tan, chairman of Walden International, have joined the board of directors of Apexone Microelectronics.

Apexone markets a range of analog and mixed-signal chips and has already built up a portfolio of 20 products aimed at multimedia and consumer electronics as well as silicon for broadband and wireless communications.
