Lumileds names Marubeni as LED distributor in Japan

Lumileds Lighting has partnered with Marubeni Corp. to market its LED chip products in Japan. According Lumileds, the agreement reflects surging demand for its TS AlInGaP and InGaN products in the Japanese market, spurred by the expanding use of solid-state illumination in applications ranging from automotive instrumentation and cell phone displays to signage, signaling and even the country's popular pachinko machines.

Marubeni will distribute Lumileds' LED chip products to major electronics companies that will create 5mm, 4-pin, surface-mount and chip-on-board LED packages.
