Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co. Ltd (NDK) is offering a new miniature voltage controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO) with an extended frequency range up to 180MHz in a 7-by-5-by-1.6mm footprint.

Housed in a hermetically sealed 6-pad SMD package, the NV7050SA series is available in the frequency range of 1.544MHz to 180MHz. Applications include telecom and enterprise networks, basestations, and instrumentation.

The NV7050SA delivers a CMOS output in the 1.544MHz to 80MHz frequency range and a PECL output in the 80MHz to 180MHz frequency range. The VCXO has an operating temperature range of -40C to 85C with a frequency stability of 50ppm maximum and an absolute pull range of 100ppm. It operates on a supply voltage of 3.3Vdc while consuming 30mA maximum on the CMOS output and 70mA maximum for PECL. The NV7050SA has a control voltage of 0Vdc to 3.3Vdc with a load of 15pF (CMOS) and 50 ohms (PECL).

The NV7050SA series is priced at less than $5 each in quantities of 2,000. Volume production will begin in October 2004.
