Epcos makes varistor in 0508 sizes

Epcos AG is offering a multilayer varistor as a quad array with nickel barrier termination (three-layer silver/nickel/tin metalization) in the 0508 size to answer the market demand for smaller and more compact components.

Specially designed for the protection of high-speed data and video lines against electrostatic discharge in mobile communications, data systems and multimedia applications, the varistor features a capacitance of 10pF that prevents signal attenuation and distortion. It operates on 16Vdc, with a maximum leakage current of 0.01?A at 4.2V and 25°C. Maximum energy absorption is specified to IEC 61000-4-2 at 30mJ.

Operating temperature range is between -55°C and 85°C (without derating), and response time is <0.5ns.

The varistors are supplied on tape reels of 180 SMDs, with samples available immediately.
