SynQor Inc. has announced the release of a wide input, regulated dc bus converter in a standard half-brick package.

"When designing bus converters, there are typically significant trade-offs among input voltage range, output voltage regulation and converter efficiency," said CEO Martin Schlecht. "Our BusQor HEA module is the first bus converter in the industry that accommodates the wide telecom input range while still maintaining tight output regulation and ultra high efficiency."

The HEA modules can deliver up to 360W of isolated power for use in 12V intermediate bus architectures. Its wide input voltage range permits use in telecom applications that require a standard 35V to 75V input, and a patented regulation stage topology enables an efficiency of 95 percent at full load while maintaining tight output regulation across the input range.

Unlike most standard unregulated bus converters, SynQor explained, the HEA series accommodates a telecom input bus, with 100V input transient capability. The device provides an isolated step down voltage from 48V to 12V, while delivering 30A of current with tight regulation (2.5 percent over sample, line, load and temperature).

The new converters feature a trim down range of 50 percent, supporting a variety of intermediate bus voltages from 12V down to 6V. Users can then optimize their bus voltage and POL modules for output power, efficiency and board level distribution currents.

Available in open frame and baseplated versions with standard pin-outs and a single board construction, the converter is offered in a standard half-brick package with a footprint of 58.4-by-61mm and profile of 11.2mm. The company also offers a 25A (300W) version for customers with slightly lower power requirements.
