Zetex Semiconductor released one of the first batches of products from its Generation 5 bipolar process.

According to the company, the ZX5T2E6 pnp transistor takes the performance of miniature SOT23-6 packaged parts to new heights with its switched load power handling capability of 70W. Characterized by Generation 5's low saturation voltage, the device provides designers with a high efficiency solution for battery charging, dc-dc converter and general power management tasks.

The 20V transistor exhibits a -130mV (max.) VCE(sat) for an Rsat rating of 31 milliohms, and can sustain a continuous collector current of 3.5A. Its high hfe capability also helps minimize the drive requirements.

The latest addition to Zetex's growing range of Miniature Package Power Solutions (MPPS), the ZX5T2E6 uses the sub-3mm? footprint and maximum 1.45mm off-board height of the SOT23-6 package to help designers optimize board size.

The newly-released ZX5T2E6 is priced at 27 cents in quantities of 10,000.
